Message from Executive Director, Nora Yates

Hello there Capital Region LGBT Communities!

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. As I'm sure you've read in this month’s CommUNITY, I am the new Executive Director at the CDGLCC. I started this week and I am busy learning all about our existing programs, hearing from community members on their ideas, and working hard on Capital Pride 2008 to make it the biggest and best ever. I’m so excited to be on board and I’m looking forward to working with all of you to make the Capital Region a more inclusive and FUN place for LGBT people, our families, and our allies. Don’t forget to save the dates: Capital Pride 2008 runs May 29th- June 8th, with the Capital Pride Parade and Festival happening Sunday June 8th in Washington Park in Albany. I look forward to seeing all of you at Pride and meeting you in the coming weeks and months as I settle into my new role. New Crystal Meth Project, "Crystal Free"

CDGLCC has partnered with In Our Own Voices, Inc. to launch a new project aimed at stemming crystal meth use in our LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning) communities in Upstate/Central, NY – specifically in Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie, Saratoga, Columbia, Greene, Montgomery, and Rensselaer Counties. Entitled “Crystal Free”, the project includes education and awareness-raising outreach, billboards, brochures, and a meth recovery/support group.
